Communication with Parents

I communicate with parents on a regular basis, in order to support and extend children’s learning. As described in Standard 7, I seek support from parents when poor behaviour limits children’s learning. I regularly speak with parents in the violin and recorder club in order to inform them of their child’s progress and to help them support their children at home.

I regularly attend Parent Consultation Meetings, and talk to various parents about their child’s progress in music. Some parents greatly appreciate the opportunity to discuss their child’s progress and to plan strategies to accelerate learning in the future.

At the end of each school year I write a report based upon each child’s progress in music. Some parents have made specific comments and responses to these reports, which has helped me to realize the effectiveness of communicating with parents.
