Standard 4 expects teachers to contribute toward the design of an effective curriculum. As I have become more familiar with the children over the past three years, I have been able to devise a general curriculum plan designed to accelerate progress in a range of musical areas such as performance and composition.
I believe that an effective curriculum is not a prescription, but a flexible document that changes based upon the children’s experiences and success. I am constantly revising my lessons and long-term plans based upon the children’s learning and my learning.
